NBR jobs are essential services, strict action will be taken if you do not attend work: Government statement

The government statement said that in the national interest of keeping the urgent import-export and foreign trade activities going, the government has decided to declare all categories of jobs in all custom houses, ICDs, bond commissionerates and customs stations under the NBR as essential services.

The government expressed hope that the officials and employees will return to work immediately and refrain from illegal and national interest-destroying activities. Otherwise, the government will be forced to be strict in protecting the people and the economy of the country.

The statement also said that the biggest limitation in conducting development-oriented activities in Bangladesh’s budget management is the weak revenue collection system. Our revenue collection is much less than the state’s needs. The main reason for this is various weaknesses in revenue collection management, irregularities and corruption. In view of this, the interim government has decided to restructure the NBR as per the suggestions of all stakeholders.

The statement said that in addition to opposing the reforms, the agitators have severely hampered revenue collection activities in the last 2 months of the fiscal year. This so-called movement is planned and malicious, which is extremely contrary to national interests and civil rights.
